HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Resolution approving accession of sculpture for Neighborhood Sculpture ProgramRESOLUTION NO. 26-043 RESOLUTION APPROVING ACCESSION OF SCULTURE FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD SCULPTURE PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, the Public Art Commission (PAC) hosts an Ames Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition (AAOSE) and each year sculptures that are exhibited through AAOSE are available for purchase by private individuals; and, WHEREAS, PAC typically acquires several sculptures each year into the City’s permanent art collection through the Neighborhood Sculpture Program; and, WHEREAS, this Program involves accepting applications from residents to have an AAOSE sculpture placed on City property for residents to enjoy; and, WHEREAS, on January 6, 2026, PAC approved a recommendation that the City Council pursue accession of one sculpture for the Neighborhood Sculpture Program. The “TipSee” accession by Craig Snyder is to be purchased for $8,000 and is being recommended to be added to the City of Ames permanent art collection. It is recommended to be placed on a Public Art Easement at Ames Community Preschool Center, 920 Carroll Avenue, near the Free Little Library that sits on the property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the accession of “TipSee” by Craig Snyder for the Neighborhood Sculpture Program as recommended by the Public Art Commission is hereby approved.
