RESOLUTION APPROVING PARKING LOT CLOSURES FOR 4TH OF JULY PARADE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, Ames Main Street (AMS) is organizing the community parade for the
2026 Downtown 4th of July celebration; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate parade staging, the following parking lot areas need to be
closed from 6:00 a.m. to approximately 2:00 p.m.: Lot MM (to the west of City Hall) and the
south three aisles of Lot M adjacent to the west door of City Hall; and,
WHEREAS, Public Works staff will provide barricades as needed to close the
streets and control access to the parking lots, and Ames Main Street will have volunteers
at each barricaded intersection, and the Police Department will assist at the busiest
intersections.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, that the aforementioned parking lot closures for parade staging for the 2026 4th of
July Parade are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 16th day of December, 2025.
