RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE
OF METERED PARKING ON 5TH STREET FOR
STORY COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH EXPO
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, City staff is planning to host the 2025 Story County Mental Health Expo
from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, in City Hall; and,
WHEREAS, this year's event will include a resource fair in the City Gym featuring
exhibits and opportunities for conversation with mental health providers in Story County,
and a keynote speaker in the City Auditorium. The evening will also include food trucks
and refreshments. Admission is free; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, organizers have requested the closure of 23
metered spaces along the north side of 5th Street from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Thursday,
October 16, 2025, for food truck and trailer parking; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department staff will provide “No Parking” signs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, that the closure of the aforementioned metered parking spaces for the Story County
Mental Health Expo on Thursday, October 16, 2025, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 14th day of October, 2025.
