Consent Agenda: Motion to approve by Hauswirth/Merchant. Unanimous. a. Present: Rowland, Lindsley, Hoff-Grambau, Agnihotri, Schmidt, Merchant, Rogowski, Stromberg-Murphy, Hauswirth, Reutter, Kumar, Zwank, Kedrowski III. Commission Committee a. Outreach i. Sculptures from the previous year have been installed in their neighborhoods ii. We ran out of ballots last month, so Carly has gotten us more b. Public Relations i. More people have been joining the group on Facebook after being posted on multiple Ames People groups ii. Still trying to clean up the multiple Instagram accounts and connect the correct one to Facebook c. Collection Management i. Rowland put together a presentation of images of pieces in the collection from when they were purchased versus what the pieces look like now. ii. Kedrowski suggested putting the pieces on a rotation to monitor them. There was also an emphasis placed on contacting the artist on if/how to restore pieces if they need maintenance. iii. Hauswirth pointed out that this may be an opportunity for PR to suggest the public use the Ames on the Go app or let the city know if maintenance is needed on a piece of art. iv. Rowland has been in contact with the city about the GIS website IV. Public Forum a. None V. Chair’s Report/Comments a. Chikerinets has resigned from the commission VI. City of Ames Liaison Report a. Open seat will be posted on the City’s website soon VII. Old Business a. Calendar Project Update i. Submissions open until August 15th ii. Stromberg-Murphy got pricing quotes and suggested that PAC order around 100 calendars again. iii. Hauswirth/Reutter moved that PAC purchase 100 calendars once the committee selects the pictures. Unanimous. iv. It is estimated that there are currently around 25 submissions b. AMES project i. Between 20 and 30 submissions ii. A committee has been formed to select the pieces VIII. New Business a. Ames Alliance request of extra AAOSE pads i. Hauswirth has heard from the Main Street committee that they have private donors who would like to purchase two of this year’s AAOSE pieces. They would like to then donate the pieces back to PAC and are requesting to keep them on the current pads permanently. ii. Kedrowski/Schmidt motion that PAC recommends that city council accepts the “hello” and “guitar” pieces donated by private donors, subject to their availability and the provisions of the gift agreement with the City of Ames. Unanimous. iii. The city will look into quotes for what it would take to keep the guitar piece electrified permanently b. Professional photos of the collection i. Kedrowski will update next month c. Event booth adjustments i. Kumar and Lindsley suggested: 1. Adding the language of “vote for your favorite sculpture” to the flyers that are on the table and to make them bigger so they are more visible 2. Electronic voting 3. More meaningful giveaways 4. Have the current collection on display 5. Creating a flyer with information on PAC ii. Come back next month with any other ideas iii. The Outreach committee will look at what can be accomplished by the next event. d. Adopt-a-Sculpture program i. Hoff-Grambau suggested having community members “adopt” a piece in the collection to monitor if any maintenance is needed to help with Collection Management. IX. For the Good of the Order a. Kedrowski said that there will be push to get ISU students involved in the community with boards and commissions. b. Merchant said that there is a fundraiser for a bench in memory of Richard Deyo and thought PAC may want to dedicate a piece of art in his memory. c.
