Box 811, Ames, IA 50010 Phone: 515-239-5105 RESOLUTION NO. 25-489 RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO CONVEY VACATED ALLEY TO ALPHA IOTA ASSOCIATION OF PHI GAMMA DELTA (325 ASH AVENUE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council for the City of Ames, Iowa, that the conveyance by the City of Ames of its right, title, and interest in the land constating a part of the vacated alley within Lot 4 of Parker’s Addition, said land is being more specifically described as: Lot 4 in Little's Subdivision of Lots 4 and 5 in Gray & Cessna's Subdivision of Lot 4 of Parker's Addition to Ames, Iowa, Lot 6 and the South 20 feet of Lot 7 in Gray & Cessna's Subdivision of Lot 4 of Parker's Addition to Ames, Iowa, the West Half of the vacated alley lying adjacent to the East line of said Lot 4 in said Little's Subdivision and the East Half of the vacated alley lying adjacent to the West line of Lot 6 and the South 20 feet of Lot 7 in said Gray & Cessna's Subdivision, all together being more particularly described as follows: Beginning at the Southeast Corner of said Lot 6 in Gray & Cessna's Subdivision; thence S89°36'58"W, 311.22 feet to the Southwest Corner of said Lot 4 in Little's Subdivision; thence N00°57'43”W, 160.01 feet to the Northwest Corner thereof; thence N89°29'33"E, 66.27 feet along the north line of said Lot 4 to its intersection with the centerline of the vacated alley; thence S00°42'14"E, 60.15 feet along said centerline to its intersection with the north line of the south 20 feet of said Lot 7 in Gray & Cessna's Subdivision; thence N89°36'24"E, 246.13 feet to the east line of said Lot 7; thence S00°26'17"E, 100.04 feet to the point of beginning, containing 0.81 acres. at no cost to Alpha Iota Association of Phi Gamma Delta by quit claim deed with the release of the deed to the property owner for recording contingent upon receipt of the overhead electrical easement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to Iowa Code section 364.7, it is necessary to provide notice of and hold a public hearing regarding the proposal of the City to dispose of its interest in this real property. Following notice and public hearing, the City will determine if this proposal is appropriate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, THAT: 1. Pursuant to Iowa Code section 364.7, publication of notice regarding the proposed conveyance of previously vacated alley within Lot 4 of Parker’s Addition and establishing a public hearing date regarding the proposal is required. 2. The public hearing regarding the proposal to consider vacation of the City’s interest in a pedestrian easement at vacated alley within Lot 4 of Parker’s Addition shall be held on the 14th day of October, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to provide notice of the public hearing as required by Iowa Code section 362.3.
