HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Detour Agreement with Iowa Department of Transportation for US 30 Pavement ProjectRESOLUTION NO. 25-399 RESOLUTION APPROVING DETOUR AGREEMENT WITH IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR US 30 PAVEMENT PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) has scheduled a 2026 construction project in the eastbound lanes of US 30 in Ames between South Duff Avenue to South Dayton Avenue. To complete the construction project, the eastbound interchange ramps along US 30 will be temporarily closed between April 1 and November 15, 2026; and, WHEREAS, to accommodate traffic during construction, the DOT has proposed detouring vehicles onto local roads. The City has been asked to enter into an Agreement for Use of Local Agency Roads as Detours. The designated detour route includes SE 16 th Street from US 69 to South Dayton Avenue, and South Dayton Avenue from SE 16 th Street to US 30. WHEREAS, the proposed detour is necessary to allow the Iowa DOT to complete construction activities on US 30 while providing the most effective management of traffic during the construction period. While public notification will be the responsibility of the Iowa DOT, the City will assist with public awareness efforts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Detour Agreement with Iowa Department of Transportation for US 30 Pavement Project is hereby approved.
