RESOLUTION APPROVING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT
WITH FOTH INFRASTRUCTURE & ENVIRONMENT, LLC
FOR THE DUFF AVENUE CORRIDOR STUDY
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, Duff Avenue serves as a key north-south arterial corridor through
Ames, providing direct access to downtown, Mary Greely Medical Center, and multiple
neighborhoods; and,
WHEREAS, over the years, concerns having grown around traffic congestion,
vehicle speeds, and multimodal access, prompting the need for a more focused planning
effort; and,
WHEREAS, the primary object of the Duff Avenue Corridor Study is to assess
existing and future conditions and establish a long-term vision for the corridor; and,
WHEREAS, the study will examine Duff Avenue from the railroad crossing south
of Main Street to the 16th Street intersection; and,
WHEREAS, $80,000 in AAMPO planning funds is programmed for the study in
the FY 2026 Transportation Planning Work Program, requiring a local match of $20,000
from the City of Ames which will come from the Regional Transportation Counts Capital
Improvements Program’s available balance; and,
WHEREAS, Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC’s proposal scored the
highest following a request for proposals and qualifications-based scoring process
consistent with federal and state procurement regulations governing the use of federal
planning funds; and,
WHEREAS, the study’s scope will include a traffic operations analysis, traffic
safety analysis, speed study, multimodal review, public and stakeholder engagement ,
development of a conceptual corridor design, a railroad crossing impact evaluation, and
a final study report.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Ames hereby approves
the Professional Services Agreement with Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC of
Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the Duff Avenue Corridor Study in an amount not to exceed
$100,000.
