HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Special Meeting of the Ames City Council 04/30/1991MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE AMES CITY COUNCIL AMES, IOWA APRIL 30, 1991 The Ames City Council met in special session at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 1991, in the City Council Chambers of the City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, pursuant to law with Mayor Larry Curtis presiding and the following members present: Brown, Campbell, Hertz, and Hoffman. Council Members Parks and Wirth were absent. LETTER OF COMMITMENT FOR MBS, INC.: Moved by Hoffman, seconded by Campbell, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 91-140 approving submittal of a Letter of Commitment concerning Story County's CEBA application to the Iowa Department of Economic Development on behalf of MBS, Inc. Mark Reinig, Economic Development Specialist, explained that this action will approve a commitment letter of funds to a CEBA project contingent upon approval of an application for a loan from the City of Ames' Revolving Loan Fund by the City Council on May 7, 1991. The CEBA request is being made by Story County on behalf of MBS, Inc. (Mike Brayton Seeds, Inc.). Roll Call Vote: 4-0. Resolution declared adopted unanimously, signed by the Mayor, and hereby made a portion of these minutes. RECEPTION FUNDS: Moved by Hertz, seconded by Brown, to authorize expenditure of $125 from the Contingency Fund to pay for a reception for Michael Gartner on May 3, 1991. Vote on Motion: 4-0. Motion declared carried unanimously. COMMENTS: The Council discussed the letter from Senator Lloyd-Jones concerning a light rail system between Ames and Des Moines. Consensus was that this idea would not conflict with the possibility of Amtrak relocating to a central Iowa route.
