HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Special Meeting of the Ames City Council 01/20/1998MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE AMES CITY COUNCIL JANUARY 20, 1998 The Ames City Council met in special session on Tuesday, January 20, 1998 at 5:40 p.m. in the City Council Chambers in the City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, pursuant to law with Mayor Ted Tedesco presiding and the following Council Members present: Campbell, Cross, Hoffman, Quirmbach, Parks, Wirth. WORKSHOP ON FIVE YEAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PLAN: City Manager Steve Schainker and Staff reviewed highlights of the document entitled "City of Ames, Iowa, Capital Improvements, Five Year Plan 1998-2003." Mayor Tedesco noted this evening's meeting was a worksession for the Staff to present information to the Council. He said there would be time for public input on the proposed CIP at the January 27 City Council meeting. RECESS: Mayor Tedesco declared a recess at 8:05 p.m. RECONVENE: The Special Meeting reconvened at 8:12 p.m. COMMENTS AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Coun. Parks said he has had recent discussions with Staff regarding the timing and review of the revisions to zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations in conjunction with the new Land Use Policy Plan. He said he would suggest that the proposed time line for Council's review of the changes be extended, so the public has a chance to review the recommended changes in sections. Motion by Parks, Second by Quirmbach, to direct Staff to develop a series of five workshops with the Council, to occur after the budget process and possibly on the Tuesday evenings when no regular Council meeting is scheduled, for consideration of proposed revisions to the zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations in conjunction with the City's new Land Use Policy Plan. Vote on Motion: 6-0. Motion declared carried unanimously. ADJOURNMENT: The Special Meeting adjourned at 8:52 p.m. Sandra L. Ryan, City Clerk Ted Tedesco, Mayor
