OF THE AMES CITY COUNCIL
AMES, IOWA SEPTEMBER 30, 2000
The Ames City Council met in special session at 8:00 a.m. on the 30th day of September, 2000, in
the City Council Chambers in City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, pursuant to law with Mayor Ted
Tedesco presiding and the following Council members present: Campbell, Cross, Goodhue,
Hoffman, Quirmbach, and Wirth.
CALL TO ORDER: 8:00 a.m.
GOAL-SETTING SESSION: The Mayor and City Council met with Tim Shields from the
University of Iowa Institute of Public Affairs. The Council identified desired process outcomes for
the retreat, cataloged distinctive characteristics of the community, and expressed ways to enhance
governmental cooperation. They engaged in extensive discussion on the basic and ancillary roles of
city government. Shorter-term objectives and various teamwork issues were discussed.
ADJOURNMENT: 11:45 a.m.
