OF THE AMES CITY COUNCIL
AMES, IOWA NOVEMBER 19, 2002
The Ames City Council met in special session at 3:45 p.m. on the 19th day of November, 2002, in
the Parks and Recreation Activity Room, 1500 Gateway Hills Park Drive, pursuant to law with Mayor
Ted Tedesco presiding and the following Council members present: Cross, Goodhue, Hoffman,
Vegge, and Wirth. Council member Quirmbach arrived at 5:20 p.m.
GOAL-SETTING SESSION. Bob Kindred, Assistant City Manager, facilitated this strategic-
planning session. The Council identified their desired outcomes for this retreat. They engaged
in extensive discussion on what they hoped to accomplish in the next 12 months. This list of
issues was then prioritized, with their top four priorities being: (1) Development of a Community
Vision, (2) Review of Services/Programs Offered by City (funded by General Fund), (3)
Finalizing plans for a Joint-Use Facility/Recreation Center, and (4) LUPP Check/Review. For
each of these priorities, Council determined key steps, timing, and who would be responsible.
A discussion of the roles of the Mayor and Council was also held.
ADJOURNMENT. Meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
