Although most of the funds had been expended, TSA continued providing services, feeling it was necessary to still assist with keeping individuals sheltered from cold weather conditions; and, WHEREAS, approving the additional $25,000 for this service brings to the total City funding for emergency shelter services from TSA in FY 2024/25 to $130,000. Currently, there is not a clear long-term solution for emergency shelter services; however, there continues to be a community need for temporary housing. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the amendment to the FY 2024/25 ASSET contract with The Salvation Army adding $25,000 for temporary emergency shelter services is hereby approved.
