RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGES TO THE
EXISTING RETAIL RENEWABLE ENERGY BUYBACK PROGRAM
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, the Electric Utility Operations Review and Advisory Board (EUORAB)
has completed its review of the existing Renewable Energy Buyback program and is
proposing changes to the existing program; and,
WHEREAS, adopting the proposed changes to the Renewable Energy Buyback
program will better align buyback rates with the recently completed Cost-of-Service study
results. The proposed program changes result in 1) more money to customers up front,
2) make the energy cost on par with market value, and 3) create a common energy
buyback rate across all customer classes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, that the proposed changes to the existing retail Renewable Energy Buyback
program, and direction to staff to develop changes to Municipal Code, Chapter 28 are
hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 27th day of May, 2025.
