COMMISSION ON THE ARTS
Council Chambers, City Hall
Monday, February 3, 2025
Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Dave Detlefs. Members present were Christa
Knoll-Drobny, Ferit Karakaya, and Steve Kawaler. Mary Kay Truckenmiller was not present.
Public Forum
There was no one present for Public Forum.
Approval of the January 6, 2025 Minutes
It was moved by Christa, seconded by Ferit, to approve the minutes of January 6, 2025. Motion
carried unanimously.
Approval of Annual Grant Paragraphs:
It was moved by Dave, seconded by Steve, to approve the Annual Grant paragraphs as
presented. Motion carried unanimously.
COTA Calendar for Next Year:
It was moved by Christa, seconded by Steve to approve the COTA Calendar as presented.
Motion carried unanimously.
Fall 2024 Special Project Grant Final Reports:
Steve noted that the Ames Choral Society website has a dead link for the photographer’s
page. It was moved by Dave, seconded by Christa to approve the Fall 2024 Special Project
Grant Final Reports. Motion carried unanimously.
Fall 2025 Special Project Grant Application and Report Forms:
It was moved by Dave, seconded by Steve to approve the Fall 2025 Special Project Grant
Application and Report Forms. Motion carried unanimously.
Upcoming Important Dates:
Upcoming important dates were reviewed by Dave. Dave then noted tonight would be his
last COTA meeting. The Commissioners thanked Dave for his service.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:09 p.m.
