HomeMy WebLinkAboutA016 - Motion accepting Fitch Family Indoor Aquatic Center Monthly UpdateTo:Mayor and City Council From:Keith Abraham, Parks and Recreation Director Date:March 21, 2025 Subject:Fitch Family Indoor Aquatic Center Item No. 10 MEMO PROJECT UPDATE: In accordance with a previous directive, staff is required to keep the City Council informed of the construction status of the Fitch Family Indoor Aquatic Center (FFIAC) and will provide a written update at Council's second meeting of each month. Additionally, staff, along with representatives from Story Construction and RDG Planning and Design, will provide an in-person update once per quarter (January, April, July, & October). If anything occurs during the project that requires Council action, staff will present this in a timely manner. Therefore, the City's Construction Manager for the project, Story Construction, has provided a Project Status Report (Attachment A). Story Construction and RDG Planning and Design are 92% complete with reviewing shop drawings and submittals. This activity will continue until 100% complete. CHANGE ORDER SUMMARY: There were no change orders recently approved but the changes thus far on the project are shown on the change order log (Attachment B). To date, change orders for the project total $251,029, or 11.95% of the contingency budget. The contingency for this project is $2.1 million with a current balance of $1,848,971. There is also $1 million set aside for mitigation of contamination issues, which has not been used at this time. Roofing was completed on the Natatorium. 2. Fire sprinkler piping and ductwork has been 3. Precast concrete in the areas of the building outside of the Natatorium has been completed. 4. Main structural steel installation has been completed outside of the Natatorium, with detailing nearing completion. 5. Special inspections and testing of structural steel and base-of-precast grout continued and are ongoing. 6. Roofing operations began on the lower roof area. 7. Joint sealant work related to the precast concrete panels has been ongoing. 8. Pre-Install meetings were held for pre-wiring rough-ins and pools and concrete slab vapor barrier. 9. Submittals and Requests for Information continued to be processed between the Bid Package Contractors, Story Construction, and RDG Planning & Design. WORK PLANNED FOR NEXT MONTH: 1. Installation of fire sprinkler piping, ductwork, and electrical conduit in the ceiling of the Natatorium is planned for completion. 2. Painting of the ceiling in the Natatorium. 3. Wellness pool basin work is starting. 4. Structural steel detailing for the area of the building outside of the Natatorium is scheduled for completion. 5. Roofing is scheduled for completion in the area outside of the Natatorium. 6. Removing frost from the subgrade and drying the dirt inside of the building as the roofing is completed. 7. Underground plumbing is planned to begin in the area outside of the Natatorium. 8. Joint sealant work will continue at the joints between the precast concrete wall panels, including the Building Envelope Consult inspections for this work. 9. Development of the Crew Workflow Plan for the site improvements such as storm sewer, grading, and parking lot paving.
