AMES CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
AMES, IOWA SEPTEMBER 24, 2020
The Regular Meeting of the Ames Civil Service Commission was called to order by Chairman Mike
Crum at 8:15 a.m. on September 24, 2020. As it was impractical for the Commission members to
attend in person, Commission Chairman Mike Crum and Commission Members Kim Linduska and
Harold Pike were brought in telephonically.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF AUGUST 27, 2020: Moved by Pike, seconded by Crum, to
approve the Minutes of the August 27, 2020, Regular Civil Service Commission meeting.
Vote on Motion: 3-0. Motion declared carried unanimously.
REQUEST TO EXHAUST POLICE OFFICER CERTIFIED LIST: Chairman Crum explained
that, according to Human Resources Director Bethany Jorgenson, there is one remaining qualified
candidate on the list that was certified on June 25, 2020. Section 4.2 of the Civil Service Commission
Policies and Procedures allows the Commission to declare the Certified List exhausted when it has
diminished to three or fewer candidates. This allows for a new open recruitment process to begin for
the unfilled vacancy.
Moved by Linduska, seconded by Crum, to approve the request from Human Resources to exhaust
the Police Officer Certified List from June 25, 2020.
Vote on Motion: 3-0. Motion declared carried unanimously.
