Home My WebLink About~Master - Approving contract and bond for the 2024/25 Intelligent Transportation System Program (Phase 4) with Van Maanen Electric, Inc., of Newton, IowaRESOLUTION NO. 25-154 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2024/25 INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM PROGRAM (PHASE 4) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council and the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) have heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2024/25 Intelligent Transportation System Program (Phase 4); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 18th day of March, 2025, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the IDOT and filed with the City Clerk on the 21st day of February, 2025; and, WHEREAS, this Council and the IDOT have heretofore determined that the bid of Van Maanen Electric, Inc., of Newton, Iowa, in the amount of $2,200,000 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Van Maanen Electric, Inc., of Newton, Iowa, in the amount of $2,200,000 dated the 25th day of March, 2025, for the 2024/25 Intelligent Transportation System Program (Phase 4) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with The Cincinnati Casualty Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, as surety thereon, in the amount of $2,200,000 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
