OF AMES, IOWA FOR THE 2022/23 BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, the 2022/23 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (S. 4th Street Pedestrian Bridge over Ioway Creek) project includes constructing a prefabricated pedestrian bridge over Ioway Creek along the SE side of the existing bridge on S. 4th Street, and constructing a path from the north side of the pedestrian bridge to the intersection of S. 4th Street & University Blvd; and, WHEREAS, proposals for engineering services were received from four engineering firms and were evaluated according to the following criteria: Project Understanding, Design Team, Previous Experience, Ability to Perform Work, and Estimated Contract Cost; and, WHEREAS, staff negotiated a contract with the highest ranked firm, WHKS & Co., of Ames, Iowa; and, WHEREAS, the contract with WHKS & Co. involves the engineering design of the project. The contract will also include coordination with affected property owners, at least one general public informational meeting, and coordination with right-of-way users that may require relocation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Professional Services Agreement with WHKS & Co. of Ames, Iowa for the 2022/23 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (S. 4th Street Pedestrian Bridge over Ioway Creek) in an amount not to exceed $84,800 is hereby approved.
