HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and Bond for 2023/24 Ames Plan 2040 Sanitary Sewer Utility Infrastructure (265th Street Extension)RESOLUTION NO. 24-677 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2023/24 AMES PLAN 2040 SANITARY SEWER UTILITY INFRASTRUCTURE (265TH STREET EXTENSION) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2023/24 Ames Plan 2040 Sanitary Sewer Utility Infrastructure (265th Street Extension); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 4th day of December, 2024, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 8th day of November, 2024; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that the bid of S.M. Hentges and Sons, Inc., of Jordan, Minnesota, in the amount of $2,036,000 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and S.M. Hentges and Sons, Inc., of Jordan, Minnesota, in the amount of $2,036,000 dated the 10th day of December, 2024, for the 2023/24 Ames Plan 2040 Sanitary Sewer Utility Infrastructure (265th Street Extension) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, of Boston, Massachusetts, as surety thereon, in the amount of $2,036,000 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
