HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Authorizing Application for EPA Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling GrantRESOLUTION NO. 24-672 RESOLUTION AUTOHRIZING APPLICATION FOR EPA SOLID WASTE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR RECYCLING GRANT FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes funding to support state and local waste management infrastructure and recycling programs. Included in this funding is the Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) Grant program; and, WHEREAS, the City has been pursuing development of a new model for solid waste disposal, recycling, and yard waste, which would replace the existing Resource Recovery and Recycling Campus concept. A substantial investment will need to occur to develop this concept; and, WHEREAS, the SWIFR grant program contains $58 million annually to support infrastructure projects. There is not a funding match requirement. The grant funds would be applied to construction and equipment costs for the Resource Recovery and Recycling Campus. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that authorization of staff to submit application for EPA Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling Grant in the amount of $5,000,000 is hereby approved.
