Consent Agenda: Motion to approve by Kedrowski/Reutter. Unanimous. a. Present: Agnihotri, Stromberg-Murphy, Reutter, Hauswirth, Rogowski, Rowland, Kedrowski, Pippin, Zwank, Merchant, Kumar III. Commission Committee a. Outreach i. See new business for update about AAOSE/Neighborhood Art b. Public Relations i. Going to start back up now that the holidays are over c. Collection Management i. Still going through data from the project from the summer IV. Public Forum a. None V. Chair’s Report/Comments a. Elections coming up in April VI. City of Ames Liaison Report a. 3 of 4 fire hydrants have been installed at the dog park i. Still waiting to receive one hydrant from the artist b. “Generations” by Gail Chavenelle has not yet been installed at Stuart Smith Park i. Should be installed this spring c. The City will be discussing the budget for the next fiscal year i. Current funds will be rolled over ii. PAC will be given an additional allocation split between four categories (Public Art Administration, AAOSE, Neighborhood Sculpture Program, and Art in the Parks) d. There are several upcoming or potential city facilities that could be good places to put public art VII. Old Business a. Ames Foundation Partnership update i. Process has been developed for interested business owners applying for a mural ii. Two murals have gone up 1. Everts Flowers 2. Cook’s Emporium VIII. New Business a. AAOSE Update i. Honorarium has been awarded to winning artist 1. Artist has offered to sell the sculpture to the City for a discount 2. See below with Neighborhood Art b. AMES (Accessible Map -Envisioning Sculptures) i. CyRide has approved the concept of placing public artwork next to CyRide shelters ii. Motion to empower the AMES subcommittee to create a request for proposal for artwork for up to 6 of the 7 bus shelters (not at Mary Greeley) along the red route for up to $30,000 by Kedrowski/Reutter. 1. Amendment: Motion to set aside $30,000 for artist fees and $5,000 for additional fees (pads, easements, etc.) from the budget for the AMES project by Kedrowski/Stromberg-Murphy. Unanimous c. Neighborhood Art i. Neighborhood applications 1. 2 applications 2. Motion to empower the Outreach Committee to negotiate on behalf of the Commission to purchase “Snow” and “Clean-Up Crew” for the Neighborhood Sculpture Program by Kedrowski/Zwank. Unanimous. IX. Good of Order a. Kumar brought up illuminating artwork in the city i. Hauswirth and Zwank brough up discussions from the Commission in the past that looked into this and found the cost prohibitive ii. Merchant suggested S 5th Street iii. Kumar suggested connecting campus to Downtown Ames iv. Stromberg-Murphy and Hauswirth suggested putting together something for our next meeting for the rest of PAC to look at X.
