RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 2
ON CONTRACT WITH WHKS & CO., OF AMES, IOWA,
FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES
FOR THE 2022/23 SHARED USE PATH SYSTEM EXPANSION - GRAND AVENUE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, at the October 10, 2023, meeting, the City Council approved the engineering
services agreement for the 2022/23 Shared Use Path System Expansion – Grand Avenue project
with WHKS & Co. of Ames, Iowa in an amount not to exceed $58,100; and,
WHEREAS, through the design of the project, one amendment to the engineering services
agreement has been administratively approved by staff in the amount of $5,200 was needed to
examine multiple design options at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Allan Drive to meet
CyRide requirements for operations in the intersection; and,
WHEREAS, preliminary design has determined that a second, small retaining wall will be
needed behind the existing Grand Avenue concrete barrier wall to accommodate the increased
width of the shared-use path in the right-of-way. WHKS will perform borings and provide a
geotechnical report to meet Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) requirement, which
necessitates an amendment to the contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that Amendment No. 2 in the amount of $9,900 on contract with WHKS & Co. Ames, Iowa, for
Engineering Services for the 2022/23 Shared Use Path System Expansion - Grand Avenue be
approved and adopted as attached hereto and made a part hereof by this reference.
