HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - ASSET Meetings Minutes 02/10/22MINUTES ASSET Meeting February 10, 2022 @ 5:00pm Meeting held via Zoom The Analysis of Social Services Evaluation Team (ASSET) was called to order at 5:05pm by Vice-Chair Nikki Fischer. The meeting was held via Zoom with the following members present: Linda Hagedorn, Andrea Rich, Tim Neubauer, Jenny Schill, Jane Acker, Mary Beth Golemo, Lydia Youngquist, Jehan Faisal, Ed Gillott, Stephanie Spence, Jean Kresse, Sandra King, and Deb Schildroth. Also present were Jodi Stumbo and Linda Munden WELCOME/INTRODUCTIONS Introductions took place. PUBLIC FORUM No one requested to speak. APPROVAL OF JANUARY 20, 2022 ASSET BOARD MEETING MINUTES – Moved by Acker, seconded by Golemo to approve minutes. Motion carried unanimously. APPROVAL OF 2022-23 ASSET CALENDAR – Moved by Rich, seconded by Hagedorn to approve the calendar. Motion carried unanimously. Kresse noted to always check the meeting agendas for the meeting location as it can change. TREASURER’S REPORT Treasurer Schill reported a balance of $1,805.88. REPORTS Administrative Team King reported on Story County’s American Rescue Plan Act funding (ARPA). The County will receive a total of $18.9M. Approximately half of the funds have been received to date and the other half due later this year. The Board of Supervisors sought public input on the use of the funds and established an application process for internal and external requests. The categories identified by the Board of Supervisors for these requests include: • Support the public health response • Address negative economic impacts caused by the public health emergency • To make necessary investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure King noted that there were 37 applications received externally and 16 internally. The status of external applications is: • 25 are preliminarily approved and 9 of these are ASSET agencies or ASSET-related • 10 are denied • 2 are pending The status of the internal applications is: • 9 are preliminarily approved • 6 are denied • 1 is pending The County has also created a new temporary Program Manager position to develop and monitor the ARPA contracting process. Kresse explained the application that United Way of Story County submitted for ARPA funding and it was preliminarily approved. The funds will go towards workforce in the childcare sector, enhanced marketing for the 211 national calling center, and address food insecurity by stocking local food pantries. For more information about the County’s ARPA funds visit the website: https://www.storycountyiowa.gov/1553/American-Rescue-Plan-Act-ARPA Legal Aid Update Kresse reported that Legal Aid Executive Director Carin Forbes is leaving to become an Assistant County Attorney in the Story County Attorney’s Office. The Legal Aid Board of Directors is working on filling the vacancy. Other Schildroth reported that the Ames City Council approved the FY 2022-23 ASSET recommendations including the sequestering of funding. Kresse reported that the United Way of Story County Board also approved all of the recommendations. King reported that the Board of Supervisors will take action on February 15th. Youngquist said the recommendations would be approved by ISU Student Government when the contracts are prepared later this month. OLD BUSINESS Information was covered under Administrative Team reports. NEW BUSINESS Outgoing Volunteers Kresse shared that United Way volunteers Quinn Wood and Keith Hobson will no longer be on the ASSET Board. Quinn has a new job that conflicts with serving on ASSET, and Keith has served two terms. Schildroth shared that City volunteers Andrea Rich and Mary Beth Golemo have both served two terms and their service on ASSET will be ending. King shared that the County does not have any outgoing ASSET volunteers and has received two applications to fill vacancies. ASSET Officers Vice Chair Fischer will move up to Chair and United Way will find a representative to fill the Vice Chair vacancy. Schildroth noted that the ASSET Board will vote on a slate of officers at the April ASSET meeting. ASSET Administrative Assistant Update King reported that the vacancy has been posted on the County’s website and the closing date is March 4th.
