REPORTS
Administrative Team
King reported on Story County’s American Rescue Plan Act funding (ARPA). The County will receive a
total of $18.9M. Approximately half of the funds have been received to date and the other half due
later this year.
The Board of Supervisors sought public input on the use of the funds and established an application
process for internal and external requests. The categories identified by the Board of Supervisors for
these requests include:
• Support the public health response
• Address negative economic impacts caused by the public health emergency
• To make necessary investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure
King noted that there were 37 applications received externally and 16 internally. The status of external
applications is:
• 25 are preliminarily approved and 9 of these are ASSET agencies or ASSET-related
• 10 are denied
• 2 are pending
The status of the internal applications is:
• 9 are preliminarily approved
• 6 are denied
• 1 is pending
The County has also created a new temporary Program Manager position to develop and monitor the
ARPA contracting process.
Kresse explained the application that United Way of Story County submitted for ARPA funding and it
was preliminarily approved. The funds will go towards workforce in the childcare sector, enhanced
marketing for the 211 national calling center, and address food insecurity by stocking local food
pantries.

when the contracts are prepared later this month.
