Chair’s Report and Comments (Angie DeWaard) 1. The artist has made a preliminary assessment of the damages to “Lost in Space” and anticipate them to cost about $750. As part of the AAOSE contract the artists pick up the works if not sold so the current discussion, with the artist, is to make repairs at the end of the AAOSE display (which assumes the piece is not sold and returns to the artist). The cost of the repairs needs to be reimbursed to the artist. 2. The City of Ames has requested that all of the $750 cost of damage be paid by the business who perpetrated the damages. Brian Phillips is in contact with the manager of Dog-Eared Books who has responded that they will only pay half of the damages. 3. After much discussion Angie DeWaard conducted a counted vote on how to pay the incurred damages. The counted option garnering the most votes was to require Dog-Eared Books to pay the quoted cost of $750, with the Ames Public Art Commission assuming any additional costs incurred over that amount. Vote on Motion: 6 – 4, Motion declared carried. 4. Brian Phillips will confer with the City of Ames’ Legal Team on concise language in a letter to Dog-Eared Books. G.
