HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - PAC Meeting Minutes 10/03/23PAC MEETING MINUTES 10/3/2023: I. Call to Order: 1730 II. City of Ames Liaison (Brian Phillips) Report: a. Aquarium installed—a piece accepted at last meeting. b. “Consipirito” by Priscilla Sage in the City Auditorium has been damaged and is in Brian’s office. The stitching needs to be fixed c. 200 block of Welch Ave. “Cyclone Twister” will be subjected to possible disruption by construction project planned next summer. If it cannot be preserved individual bronze pieces may have to be removed and then replaced at conclusion of process. d. Map of “Mutt-mitt bag locations e. Transformer Wrapping on Main Street. Question about $100 honorarium for the artist who designs wrap. There will be a new call for artists. III. Introduction of New Members/Old Members: a. Julieanne Rogowski b. Manu Agnihotri c. Roman Chikerinets IV. Consent Agenda a. Reutter/Simmons —Unanimously passed V. Commission Committees a. Outreach-(Briest) overview presentation RE Neighborhood Art, AAOSE b. Public Relations—(Hauswirth) Trying to regain social media account access to better tout AAOSE and Neighborhood Art. May need to generate new pages. Work with City Information Officer ongoing. c. Collection Management (Simmons/Hauswirth) Helps to keep track of our collection. Theresa Stromberg-Murphy is working in GIS to get eyes on all of our pieces to figure out what is damaged or needs maintenance. Ongoing efforts r eviewed by Simmons of recent efforts to update the GIS maps. d. New Members. Roman- Public Relations. // Manu—Outreach // Julieanne— Outreach VI. Public Forum: N/A VII. Chair’s Report: Welcome to new members. Excited to have new people. Octagon Art Festival went well. We had a better spot and were able to better interact with public. We got a lot of votes for AAOSE. VIII. Old Business: a. Art in the Parks: Every 3 years we do a project in Ames park. This year we are doing Hira Park. 42 designs have been submitted. Meeting Friday to narrow these down. b. Decommissioned Fire Hydrants: working with Parks and Recreation to identify next slate of locations. Affordable and fun. Awaiting map from Brian Phillips of Mutt-mitt bag locations c. Problem Pedestals: Update on removal process. Removal of terra-cotta inserts will be undertaken by City staff prior to removal of the pedestals. Public Works has not been able to undertake this yet. IX. New Business: a. Roundabout: Candace reviewed the project and plan for further development including approaching businesses using ISU business park. ISU could be a donor in some way, b. AMES: October 25 meeting with CyRide. Roman is interested. May be funded by grants in part. c. Next Project: Photo contest for calendar or website. Possible future discussion. X. For Good of Order: Counting AAOSE Votes Candace and Erica and Outreach Julieanne and Manu. XI. Adjourn: 1850
