Volunteers? c) Photo triptych in Council Chambers, Home by Eric Sealine i) Under the image is a series of acrylic panels w/statements, one mentioning “Squaw Creek” which is now “Ioway Creek” (1) It is unclear if the words are the work of the artist or others ii) Council brought this to Brian, three possible courses of action (1) Leave it as is (2) Contact the artist and see if it is desired to change it (3) Place an interpretive label nearby explaining the name of the creek has now changed due to its offensiveness d) Ice Arena Mural request (5 min) i) Taylor Bassett, ice arena manager, has requested a mural potentially be put in the landing of the stairs (see photos at end of document) ii) Would we be interested in helping – they do not have a budget, so were hoping for more of a volunteer effort. 9) Old Business a) Transformer Cabinet Mural Project Proposal (Sara Sherman) (10 min) i) Sara has gotten the Call for Artists completed ii) Working on timing b) Storm Drain Intake Artwork (Sara Sherman) (10 min) i) Council received Call for Artists ii) Dates and website – looking at next spring c) Celebration Planning: 25th Year of AAOSE and 30th Year of PAC i) Committee Meeting Updates (1) Chalk the Walk at the Octagon recap – September 26 during Octagon Art Festival (5 min) (2) Celebration Event recap – September 22, 2021 from 4-6 at City Gymnasium (5 min) (3) Photography Contest (a) Prizes awarded d) “Infinity” – Park Way and Brookridge (5 min) i) Potential wording to Deaccession Policy (see last month’s attachment) e) Revamp / Revise Art in the Parks (Claire Kruesel) (10 min) i) Plaza ideas have been accumulated and sent to Keith and Brian ii) AitP – large pieces are being discussed, Claire to follow up with Keith to see what our scope involves. f) Suggestion by Claire to make a “What Not To Do” w/public art for social media i) Hold until after swap out of AAOSE g) Commission Committees Reports and Comments i) Outreach (Olivia Madison and Erica Briest Co-Chairs; Penny Adam, Candace Zwank) (5 min) (1) Neighborhood Art (a) Dec. 17, 2021 is deadline (b) Let Outreach know if you want to be on subcommittee (2) AAOSE – Entries open Oct. 1, 2021, and close Jan. 28, 2022 ii) Public Relations (Paola Sepulveda and Sara Sherman Co-Chairs; Taylor Carlson) (5 min) (1) Festival and Event Participation for FY2021 (Sara Sherman) (a) Octagon Art Festival – September 26, 2021 (i) Chalk the Walk – will occur on September 26 during Octagon Art Festival iii) Collection Management (Angie DeWaard and Amanda Gigler Co-Chairs; Olivia Madison, Claire Kruesel, and Karen George) (5 min) (1) Dog-Eared Books has been contacted regarding vandalism of piece, and has agreed to pay up t o $750. (2) “The Bronsons” (Arizona Circle) has been vandalized. Suggested repairs are underway. (3) City Hall Art Placement / Signage – removal and installation (Olivia Madison) (4) PAC Collection GIS Database (Angie DeWaard and Paola Sepulveda) (5) “This Is Living” AAOSE piece – quarter stuck in ear, Carly researching (6) “Balance” – Artist was in town, is figuring out how to fix. (7) Dahlquist Light features downtown. (No action needed at this time, can work with Main Street when we pursue resolution.)
