Partnership With COTA - Small Arts Grants (10 Min) a. $10,000 Available Funds b. Four proposed grants selected and sent to Council on 5/25. Four selected items include a KHOI poetry reading/mixed media art project; a workshop to collaboratively mend abandoned quilts; a mural in Campustown; and a commission of six artists to develop art encouraging Ames engagement with the climate action planning process. 2. Transformer Cabinet Mural Project Proposal (Sara Sherman, Angie DeWaard) (10 min) a. Identification of desired boxes for project and corresponding budget. b. PAC approval to move forward with the selected vendor (Chase Graphics). 3. Storm Drain Intake Artwork (Sara Sherman) a. Sara has the call for artists mostly sketched out b. Will identify what drains may work best. Potential options are schools, Campustown, etc. 4. Revamp/Revise Art in the Parks - Claire Kruesel a. Committee was identified (Claire as chair, Angie, Elias, Erica, and Paola) b. June meeting will be held virtually (date to be determined) c. Keith Abraham has been contacted Page 2 of 3 I. Old Business 1. Celebration Planning: 25th Year of AAOSE and 30th Year of PAC (Olivia Madison/Committee) a. Committee Meeting updates i. Committee report (Olivia Madison) (15 min) ii. Social Media Selfie Scavenger Hunt/Response to Public Art iii. Chalk the Walk at the Octagon – September 26 during Octagon Art Festival iv. Culminating Event – September 22, 2021 from 4-6 pm at City Gymnasium 2. Commission Committees, Liaison Reports, and Comments a. Outreach (Olivia Madison and Erica Briest Co-Chairs; Andrew Ward, Penny Adam, Candace Zwank, and Amanda Gigler) (10 min) i. Ames Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition (AAOSE) (10 min-Olivia Madison) a. Paola and Taylor working on the brochure, Olivia would like a copy b. Installation is finished b. Neighborhood Art (10 min-Erica Briest) i. Approved by City Council, purchase agreements signed, Carly sent payments. ii. Plaques ordered from Cyclone Engraving. iii. Installation dates? Sculptures currently in storage. iv. Dec. 17, 2021 is the deadline for the 2021 applications. c. Public Relations (Paola Sepulveda Chair; Taylor Carlson, Sara Sherman) (5 min) i. Festival & Event Participation for FY2021 (Sara Sherman) Artwalk – June 3, 2021 – all signed up Reiman Gardens - July 2021 – registered, but need more volunteers Octagon Art Festival - September 26, 2021 Chalk the Walk at the Octagon – September 26 during Octagon Art Festival ii. Idea of creating 3D photos of our sculptures for public viewing (Taylor’s suggestion) d. Collection Management (Co-Chairs: Angie DeWaard and open; Olivia Madison, Claire Kruesel, and Karen George) (5 min) City Hall Art Placement/Signage – removal and installation (Olivia Madison) PAC Collection Management Database/System Balance – crack needs repaired, is under warranty. Olivia has sent letter to City.
