Partnership With COTA - Small Arts Grants (10 Min) a. $10,000 Available Funds b. April 30 Due Date 4. Arts Capital Grants Update (5 min) a. Heather Johnson from Octagon has emailed to ask about update to if there is a way to apply for more of the $200,000. i. Brian has updated that criteria need to first be established and published, then the application can be released. 5. Transformer Cabinet Mural Project Proposal (Sara Sherman, Angie DeWaard) (10 min) a. New Main Street Director interested in participating in selection process b. Criteria for artists/Call for Artists draft c. Bids from minimum of 3 different companies – Sara is obtaining 6. Storm Drain Intake Artwork (Sara Sherman) a. Must have an educational aspect - Watershed/Environment b. Budget of $10k Page 2 of 3 c. Call for Artists Draft 7. Revamp/Revise Art in the Parks - Claire Kruesel a. Will now look to fund a large project, ideally every five years I. Old Business 1. Celebration Planning: 25th Year of AAOSE and 30th Year of PAC (Olivia Madison/Committee) a. Committee for Planning: Olivia Madison, Sara Sherman, Angie DeWaard, Erica Briest, Claire Kruesel. Additional Contributors: Kerry Dixon, Heather Johnson, Bob Kindred, Brian Phillips i. Committee report (Olivia Madison) (15 min) 1. Tentative date in September - Art Appreciation Month ii. Social Media Selfie Scavenger Hunt/Response to Public Art iii. Chalk the Walk at the Octagon iv. Culminating Event – September 22, 2021 from 4-6 pm at City Gymnasium v. Photography Display/Contest to potentially coincide with culminating event (Angie, Claire, and Heather Johnson) 1. Do we want the displayed/gathered photos to be displayed long-term or short term beyond event? After discussion w/Brian, could be on easels at several different locations, or could temporarily replace our current displays if we want it longer than a few weeks or a month. 2. Themes – Outline five adopted values of City Council for next year as potential sources vi. Selfie Contest/Scavenger Hunt – (Sara and Claire) vii. Tactile Workshop (Erica) 1. Potentially to either be held with Farmers Market, at Miracle Park shelter 2. Date? 2. Commission Committees, Liaison Reports, and Comments a. Outreach (Olivia Madison and Erica Briest Co-Chairs; Andrew Ward, Penny Adam, Candace Zwank, and Amanda Gigler) (10 min) i. Ames Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition (AAOSE) (10 min-Olivia Madison) a. Selections have been approved by Council b. Applicants have been informed of decisions, Carly is currently working on loan agreements for the sculptures selected ii. Brochure will need updated with new sculptures, will reach out to Taylor to update iii. Installation Timeline (Generally before Artwalk) a. John Forth is leading installation, the first sculpture was installed on April 12th and the final sculpture is scheduled to be installed on May 15th b. Carly is issuing honorarium payment to the artists upon installation iv. Direction regarding Crossroads by Jon Kamrath (see AAOSE Jon Kamrath Sculpture Comparison in the meeting packet) Page 3 of 3 b. Neighborhood Art (10 min-Erica Briest) i. PAC voted in March to approve the 3 pieces selected by outreach ii. Selections have been approved by Council iii. Purchase agreements have been signed and Carly issued payment to the artists a. Plaques have been ordered from Cyclone Engraving for each sculpture, the sculptures are currently in storage waiting to be placed at their permanent location c. Public Relations (Paola Sepulveda Chair; Taylor Carlson, Sara Sherman) (5 min) i. Festival & Event Participation for FY2021 (Sara Sherman) Artwalk - June 2021 Need to reach out to Ames Main Street if we want to participate Reiman Gardens - July 2021 (Registered) Octagon Art Festival - September 2021 These events will need participation from PAC members at our booth. All dependent on the COVID situation. Sara is sending out signups to PAC. ii. Idea of creating 3D photos of our sculptures for public viewing (Taylor’s suggestion) iii. Marketing for 30th anniversary and beyond 1. Press releases and social media posts for celebratory event and contests for anniversary 2. Potential long-term “Who Am I” project – adding link or section to PAC webpage for submissions d. Collection Management (Co-Chairs: Angie DeWaard and open; Olivia Madison, Claire Kruesel, and Karen George) (5 min) City Hall Art Placement/Signage – removal and installation (Olivia Madison) PAC Collection Management Database/System Balance - Crack at the base; any updates?
