Call to order: by Hauswirth at 17:32 II. Consent agenda a. Motion to approve Kedrowski/Ruetter, all approved III. Commission Committee’s Reports a. Outreach i. Committee Goals Update ii. Neighborhood Art iii. AAOSE: voting complete - votes tallied by Agnihotri and Ruetter - “Clean Up Crew” by Judd Nelson is winner, “Crystaline” by Ben Pierce is first runner-up; Carly Watson said she has received 7 submittals for AAOSE 2025, deadline is this week and she excepts more; she said several artists who have submitted previously let her know they were not submitting this year for personal reasons and not because we moved up the submittal deadline b. Public Relations i. Committee Goals Update: Mike has been posting on Facebook; Kyle is going to schedule a time to meet with the City’s new social media person c. Collection Management i. Committee Goals Update: now that the calendar is complete; Theresa will schedule a meeting to develop a list of still “missing” art pieces IV. Public Form/Guests a. None V. Chair’s Report a. Thanks to Outreach for tallying AAOSE vote, Kyle is excited about the new timeline for 2025; thanks to the committee for participating in public events; excited about the calendar VI. City of Ames Liaison Comments/Updates (Carly Watson) a. City needs direction on Brookside Art Donation VII. Old Business a. Decommissioned Fire Hydrants: all have been received by they have not been installed yet b. Ames Foundation Partnership Update i. Ames Murals: An Open Air Gallery: mural has been installed on the back of Everts; Ames Foundation will continue to work with business owners to install more murals VIII. New Business a. AAOSE; see above b. AMES (Accessible Map-Envisioning Sculpture) i. Update on property owners – Fareway & Hy-Vee: all owners are willing to participate; next step is to update CyRide and get their approval on the call for artists ii. Outreach: Roman and Julieanne presented at ISU for accessibility; it was well received c. Brookside Park Art Donations i. Update on provenance: due to upcoming work on Ioway Creek, the garden identified for the sculpture will be removed; no longer a reason to accept the sculpture ii. Decision to proceed with accession or decline: Motion by Hoff-Grambau to decline donation and remove item for agenda. 2nd by Zwank. All approved d. Photography Contest/Calendar i. Update on printing process: printing is complete, invoice for ~$1,100 forwarded to City for payment ii. Update on Donation Process: 99 calendars delivered to The Octagon, will be sold for $10 or $15 and proceeds will be used by The Octagon for activities iii. We will put the calendar back on the agenda in January or February to review how they sold and whether we should do it again IX. For the Good of the Order -Group Discussion/New Ideas: none X.
