RESOLUTION APPROVING USAGE OF ELECTRICITY AND WAIVER OF FEES
FOR AMES MAIN STREET SNOW MAGIC EVENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, Ames Main Street (AMS) plans to host its annual Snow Magic Celebration
December 5th through December 24th. The event will kick off on December 5th and continue
throughout the month with promotions in Downtown businesses for the rest of the month; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, AMS has made the following requests for December
5th: A blanket Temporary Obstruction Permit and a blanket Vending License for the Downtown
from December 1st through December 24th to allow stores to display and sell merchandise and
waiver of Vending License fee ($50 loss to City Clerkâs Office) and use of electricity in Tom
Evans Plaza and waiver of fees for electricity (loss of $10 to the Electric Fund); and,
WHEREAS, Snow Magic provides an opportunity to draw residents and visitors to the
Downtown and supports local businesses during the holiday shopping season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that usage of electricity and waiver of electricity fees for AMS Snow Magic event are hereby
approved.
ADOPTED THIS 22nd day of October, 2024.
