HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Professional Services Agreement for East Lincoln Way Corridor Study RESOLUTION NO. 24-552 RESOLUTION APPROVING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR THE EAST LINCOLN WAY CORRIDOR STUDY FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), Forward 2045, identified the E. Lincoln Way corridor from Duff Avenue to the South Skunk River bridge as a potential location for a road diet from four to three lanes; and, WHEREAS, the City of Ames' Bicycle-Pedestrian Master Plan, Walk Bike Roll Ames, identified high priority pedestrian crossing locations along this corridor; and, WHEREAS, because of the poor pavement condition along this corridor, a roadway reconstruction project was programmed in the City of Ames Capital Improvements Program as an FY 2026/27 project in the Arterial Street Pavement Improvements program in the amount of $3,000,000. Additionally, the City of Ames submitted a project application for this project to the AAMPO for $2,400,000 in Surface Transportation Block Grant funding and was awarded these funds; and, WHEREAS, because of the overlap between the reconstruction project and the potential road diet,a total of$30,000 in funding is allocated for the E Lincoln Way Study,including$24,000 in federal MPO planning funds as identified in the AAMPO's FY 2025 Transportation Planning Work Program and $6,000 in local match funding from the City of Ames Road Use Tax Fund; and, WHEREAS, following applicable federal and state mandated purchasing requirements, the City of Ames solicited a Request for Proposals(RFP).Each of the five proposals received were evaluated and ranked by a project selection team consisting of AAMPO and City of Ames staff, and, WHEREAS, staff negotiated a contract with the highest ranked firm, Strand Associates, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin, with a contract cost not to exceed$30,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Ames hereby approves the Professional Services Agreement with Strand Associates, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin, for the E. Lincoln Way Corridor Study in an amount not to exceed$30,000. ADOPTED THIS 81h day of October, 2024. e4 W- 4�Ior Renee kall, City Clerk John A.
