RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE AWARD CONTRACT WITH ALEX HEVERI
FOR THE PURCHASE OF "MONARCH ON MILKWEED"
FOR THE PUBLIC ART COMMISSION, CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, through conversations with Reiman Gardens, the Public Art Commission
(PAC) has identified "Monarch on Milkweed" for placement in the roundabout located at
University Boulevard and Oakwood/Airport Roads to replace the sculpture `Monolith" that was
destroyed in 2022 by an intoxicated driver.
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1: Award of contract is made as follows:
Alex Heveri, of Tucson, Arizona, in the amount of$26,000 for the purchase and
delivery of the completed sculpture titled "Monarch on Milkweed" for the
University/Airport/Oakwood roundabout.
Section 2: The City Manager and City Clerk are authorized to execute said contract for
and on behalf of the City of Ames, Iowa, and to affix the corporate seal of the City thereto.
Section 3: All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 27th day of August, 2024.
