RESOLUTION APPROVING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT
FOR THE AMES AREA METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION'S
2050 METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN UPDATE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, every five years, the Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization
(AAMPO) is required to develop a Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP); and,
WHEREAS, the primary purpose of a MTP, as defined by the U.S. Department of
Transportation, is to identify how the metropolitan area will manage and operate a multi-
modal transportation system (including transit, highway, bicycle, pedestrian, and accessible
transportation)to meet the region's economic,transportation,development,and sustainability
goals for a 20+year planning horizon, while remaining fiscally constrained; and,
WHEREAS, this update to the AAMPO's MTP will have an anticipated completion
date of September 23, 2025, and will utilize 2050 as the planning horizon year; and,
WHEREAS, a total of$500,000 in funding is allocated for the 2050 MTP update,
including $400,000 in federal MPO planning funds as identified in the AAMPO's FY 2025
Transportation Planning Work Program and FFY 2024-2027 Transportation Improvement
Program, and $100,000 in local match funding from the Road Use Tax Fund as identified in
year 2023/24 of the City of Ames 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan; and,
WHEREAS, following applicable federal and state mandated purchasing
requirements, the City of Ames and AAMPO solicited a Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
followed by a Request for Proposals (RFP). Each of the two proposals received were
evaluated and ranked by a project selection team consisting of AAMPO, City of Ames, and
Story County staff, and,
WHEREAS, staff negotiated a contract with the highest ranked firm, HDR
Engineering, Inc. of Omaha,Nebraska, with a contract cost not to exceed$499,851.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Ames hereby approves the
Professional Services Agreement with HDR Engineering, Inc. of Omaha, Nebraska for the
2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan update in an amount not to exceed $499,851.
