RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
ASH POND CLOSURE AND RDF ASH POND CONSTRUCTION
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that
certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been
designated as the Ash Pond Closure and RDF Ash Pond Construction; and,pursuant to notice and
hearing,bids were received on the 24th day of January,2024, as called for in the detailed plans and
specifications as prepared by the Electric Services Department and filed with the City Clerk on the
27th day of November, 2023; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that the bid of J.B. Holland
Construction, Inc., of Decorah, Iowa, in the amount of$2,606,093.15 (inclusive of Iowa sales tax)
is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been
executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
as follows:
Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and J.B. Holland Construction,
Inc., of Decorah, Iowa, in the amount of$2,606,093.15 (inclusive of Iowa sales tax) dated
the 12th day of March,2024, for the Ash Pond Closure and RDF Ash Pond Construction as
provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and
the performance bond of the said contractor with United Fire & Casualty Company, of
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$2,606,093.15 filed in connection
therewith, be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed
to the extent of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 91h day of April, 2024.
