Home My WebLink About~Master - Contract and Bond for 2023/24 Intelligent Transportation System (Phase 3) RESOLUTION NO. 24-174 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2023/24 INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (PHASE 3) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council and the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) have heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2023/24 Intelligent Transportation System(Phase 3);and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 19th day of March, 2024, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the IDOT and filed with the City Clerk on the 12th day of February, 2024; and, WHEREAS, this Council and the IDOT have heretofore determined that the bid of Van Maanen Electric, Inc., of Newton, Iowa, in the amount of$1,817,416.71 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Van Maanen Electric, Inc., of Newton, Iowa in the amount of$1,817,416.71 dated the 26th day of March,2024, for the 2023/24 Intelligent Transportation System (Phase 3) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with The Cincinnati Insurance Company, of Fairfield, Ohio, as surety thereon, in the amount of$1,817,416.71 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict.
