HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and Bond for Construction of HVAC Replacement at the Power Plant RESOLUTION NO. 24-084 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF HVAC REPLACEMENT AT THE POWER PLANT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the HVAC Replacement at the Power Plant; and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 20th day of December, 2023, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Electric Services Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 8th day of November, 2023; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Mechanical Comfort, Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$269,740 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Mechanical Comfort, Inc., of Ames,Iowa,in the amount of$269,740 dated the 91h day of January,2024,for the HVAC Replacement at the Power Plant as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual), of West Des Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of $269,740 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
