RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
WATER TREATMENT PLANT, SOUTHEAST WELLFIELD, TECHNICAL SERVICES
COMPLEX SECURITY FENCE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that
certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been
designated as the Water Treatment Plant, Southeast Wellfield, Technical Services Complex
Security Fence Improvements Project; and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on
the 14th day of September, 2023, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared
by the Water and Pollution Control Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 22"d day of
August, 2023; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that the bid of American Fence
Company of Iowa, Inc. of Johnston, Iowa, in the amount of$78,247.60 is the lowest and best bid
submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been
executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
as follows:
Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and American Fence Company
of Iowa, Inc. of Johnston, Iowa, in the amount of $78,247.60 dated the 26th day of
September, 2023, for the Water Treatment Plant, Southeast Wellfield, Technical Services
Complex Security Fence Improvements Project as provided for in the detailed plans and
specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said
contractor with United Fire and Casualty Company, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as surety
thereon, in the amount of$78,247.60 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are
hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed
to the extent of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 141h day of November, 2023.
