HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Setting Date of Public Hearing for Sale of Lot 1 in Baker Subdivision to Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa RESOLUTION NO. 23-557 RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO AUTHORIZE STAFF TO FINALIZE TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE SALE OF LOT 1 IN THE BAKER SUBDIVISION TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF CENTRAL IOWA FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, in 2015, as part of the City's Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) Program, the City acquired a 10+ acre site located at 321 State Avenue to develop a subdivision to support the affordable housing goals of the City as a mixed-income development, with a minimum of 51% of the homes affordable to low- and moderate-income households. The subdivision will consist of 26 single-family lots and one lot for multi-family units; and, WHEREAS, in July 2022, the City of Ames, as the developer for the subdivision, completed the public infrastructure improvements for the 26 single-family lots. The subdivision covenants were adopted in December 2021; and, WHEREAS, in March 2023, the City sold Lot 8 to Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa (HHCI), and in April 2023,the City sold Lots 2-7 to HHCI. HHCI is requesting to purchase Lot 1 located at 412 S. Wilmoth Avenue, which will complete the purchase of all the lots on the south side of Wilmoth in the subdivision; and, WHEREAS, the City's Finance staff finds HHCI's 2022 Annual Audit Report it in good order, including the audit opinion. Staff has been working with the HHCI Executive Director and the City's Legal Department to begin to finalize the terms and conditions for the sale of Lot 1 for $50,000 and for the construction of the home on the lot, setting of November 14, 2023, as the date of the Public Hearing. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that setting November 14, 2023, as the date of the Public Hearing to authorize staff to finalize the terms and conditions for the sale of Lot 1 in the Baker Subdivision to Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa for$50,000 is hereby approved.
