RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT RENEWAL AND BOND FOR
BOILER TUBE SPRAY COATING AND RELATED SERVICES AND SUPPLY
CONTRACT FOR THE POWER PLANT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, this contract is for a contractor to provide and install new boiler tube coating
and surface preparation at the City's Power Plant. This coating has been found effective against
the corrosive wear on the boiler tubes brought on by burning Refuse Derived Fuel. This contract
addresses routine application of protective coating on the boiler tube walls that do not have shop-
applied coating. Failure to maintain the coating will cause the boiler tubes to wear much more
quickly, resulting in premature failure and costly repairs; and,
WHEREAS, on July 26, 2022, Council awarded a contract to Integrated Global Services,
Inc., Richmond, Virginia, for the Boiler Tube Spray Coating and Related Services and Supplies
Contract for Power Plant. These services were to be furnished as requested from the award date
through June 30, 2023. This contract included the option for the City to renew in one-year
increments for up to four additional years. This is the first renewal out of four possible renewal
periods; and,
WHEREAS, the labor rates which will be charged by Integrated Global Services, Inc. will
increase approximately 7%and the material rates will increase approximately 13%, and staff finds
these increases to be acceptable; and,
WHEREAS, invoices will be based on contract rates for time and materials for services
actually received and accepted by the City. The FY 2023/24 operating budget includes $435,000
for these services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the contract renewal with Integrated Global Services, Inc., of Richmond,Virginia, as follows:
Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Integrated Global Services,
Inc., of Richmond, Virginia, in the amount of$435,000 dated the 261h day of July, 2022,
for the Boiler Tube Spray Coating and Related Services and Supply Contract for the Power
Plant as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble
hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Great Midwest Insurance
Company, of Houston, Texas, as surety thereon, in the amount of $435,000 filed in
connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed
to the extent of such conflict.
