HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Assessing Costs of Snow and Ice Removal Against Abutting Property for Collection like Property Tax RESOLUTION NO. 23-285 RESOLUTION ASSESSING COSTS OF SNOW/ICE REMOVAL AGAINST THE ABUTTING PROPERTY FOR COLLECTION IN THE SAME MANNER AS A PROPERTY TAX PURSUANT TO SECTION 364.12(2)(b) AND (e), CODE OFIOWA, FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Ames has served notice on the abutting property owners by certified mail to the property owners as shown by the records of the City Assessor requiring the abutting property owners to remove accumulations of ice and snow from sidewalks; and, WHEREAS, certain of said abutting property owners did not perform the aforesaid work as required within a reasonable time set by the City; and, WHEREAS, the City has performed the said required snow/ice removal from sidewalks and now desires to assess the costs against the abutting property for collection in the same manner as a property tax. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that pursuant to Section 364.12(2)(b) and(e), Code oflowa, the cost of the said snow/ice removal, is assessed to the abutting property as follows: Auditor's Record Owner Cost Assessed Property Description 1. Hung Mahn Tran $186.00 715 Grand Avenue Ames, Iowa 50010 The said assessments to be due and collected in the same manner as property taxes. ADOPTED THIS 91h day of May, 2023.
