RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT RENEWAL AND BOND FOR
BOILER MAINTENANCE SERVICES CONTRACT FOR POWER PLANT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, this contract consists of a variety of boiler and pressure vessel maintenance,
including structural steel and pressure vessel repair at the Power Plant. The contractor provides
emergency service as well as regularly planned repairs and services during scheduled outages;and,
WHEREAS, on July 26, 2022, the City Council awarded a contract to TEi Construction
Services, Inc., Duncan, South Carolina, for the Boiler Maintenance Services Contract for Power
Plant.These services were to be furnished as requested from the award date through June 30,2023.
This contract included the option for the City to renew in one-year increments for up to four
additional years. This is the first renewal out of four possible renewal periods; and,
WHEREAS, the rates which will be charged by TEi Construction Services, Inc. will
increase 3%, as indicated on their bid document.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the contract renewal with TEi Construction Services, Inc., Duncan, South Carolina, for the
Boiler Maintenance Services Contract for Power Plant for the one-year period from July 1, 2023,
through June 30, 2024, in an amount not-to-exceed $345,000 as follows:
Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and TEi Construction Services,
Inc., Duncan, South Carolina, in the amount of$345,000 dated the 26th of July, 2022, for
the Boiler Maintenance Services Contract for Power Plant as provided for in the detailed
plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of
the said contractor with Federal Insurance Company, of Warren Connecticut, as surety
thereon, in the amount of $345,000 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are
hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed
to the extent of such conflict.
