HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Allocating City Council Funds for Ribbon-Cutting at James Herman Banning Ames Municipal Airport with Juneteenth RESOLUTION NO. 23-243 RESOLUTION APPROVING A REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL TO ALLOCATE $10,000 FOR RIBBON-CUTTING EVENT AT THE JAMES HERMAN BANNING AMES MUNICIPAL AIRPORT IN CONJUNCTION WITH JUNETEENTH ACTIVITIES FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, at the March 14, 2023, meeting, Council Member Betcher shared her desire for the City Council to allocate up to $10,000 for a ribbon-cutting event at the James Herman Banning Ames Municipal Airport as well as other enhanced Juneteenth activities; and, WHEREAS, the City Council passed a motion to place on a future agenda for discussion a request to allocate $10,000 for this purpose; and, WHEREAS, the City Manager recommended the funds come from the City Council's Contingency Account. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that resolution approving a request for the City Council to allocate $10,000 for ribbon-cutting event at the James Herman Banning Ames Municipal Airport in conjunction with Juneteenth activities is hereby approved.
