HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving final plans and specifications and awarding contract to GE Grid Solutions to furnish 69kV SF6 Circuit Breakers RESOLUTION NO. 23-092 RESOLUTION APPROVING FINAL PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND FORM OF CONTRACT AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR FURNISH 69kV AND 161kV SF6 CIRCUIT BREAKERS FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, has heretofore approved plans, specifications, and form of contract for Furnishing 69kV and 16lkV SF6 Circuit Breakers as described in Resolution No. 23-010 adopted on the 1 Oth day of January, 2023; and, WHEREAS, a hearing has been held on objections to the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract, and to the cost of the proposed improvement in said City, and all objections thereto have been overruled; and, WHEREAS, due to the significant quoted lead time for these breakers, a need has been determined to purchase an additional 69kV circuit breaker for the future Capital Improvement Project at Mortensen Road Substation for transformer protection. This additional breaker will be an additional cost of$67,845, for a total award in the amount of$474,915; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the plans, specifications, and form of contract referred to in the preamble hereof be and the same are hereby finally approved, and the prior action of the Council approving them is hereby finally confirmed; and, WHEREAS,the Council did publish a Notice to Bidders for the construction of said work; and, WHEREAS, all bids have been received and considered. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, as follows: Section 1. It is hereby found and determined that the bid of GE Grid Solutions, of Charleroi, Pennsylvania, to furnish six 69kV SF6 Circuit Breakers, in the amount of $407,070 is the lowest and best bid for said work, and the total award amount of$474,915, inclusive of Iowa sales tax,to furnish seven 69kV SF6 Circuit Breakers is hereby accepted. Section 2. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with the said company in accordance with the company's proposal and the Notice to Bidders, and in accordance with the plans and specifications heretofore adopted and approved. Section 3. All bids or proposals received are hereby directed to be filed. Section 4. All other bids, other than that accepted, are hereby rejected, and the Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return certified checks or bid bonds accompanying such unsuccessful bids and take receipts therefore to be filed in the Clerk's office. Section 5. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
