HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - D&O Amended SUP to Cellular TowerIN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATION OF CELLCO PARTNERSHIP c/b/a DECISION & ORDER PROPERTY:01 AVENUE FACTS This application came before the Board for an Amended Special Use Permit to allow for installation of an additional 20-feet of antennas and stealth canisters on an existing stealth monopole located at 2801 Grand Avenue. The height of the existing tower is to remain the same. Planner Benjamin Campbell stated this is an amendment to a Special Use Permit originally approved by the Board in 2001; a previous amendment was approved last year. The proposal is to allow for an additional 20-feet of height on the existing 120-foot tower. The existing canisters are 46 inches, and the proposed canisters will be 48 inches. There is no maximum height for towers, and the site is next to the wall of the North Grand Mall, which is zone commercially. The tower has been in this location since 2001. Verizon stated that they investigated other options, but that this weas the most logical option. FINDINGS AND DECISION The Board considered the facts as detailed above and provided in the Staff Report, the testimony presented at the hearing, and adopted the Factual Findings and Conclusions in the Staff Report and found that the project met the criteria consistent with zoning standards as established by the Applicant under Section 29.1307(8) of the Ames City Municipal Code. ORDER WHEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that the Special Use Permit be GRANTED to allow for an additional 20-feet to be added to an existing 120-foot-tall tower with new 48-inch stealth canisters and the addition of new interior mounted antennas and associated equipment, located at 2801 Grand Avenue, with the stipulation that the final color of the pole and cannisters shall match. This t , may require repainting the pole to match the cannisters. The pole and cannisters shall be maintained in an ongoing manner with a consistent color and fit. Any person desiring to appeal this decision to a court of record may do so within thirty (30) days after the filing of this decision.
