and garden pavilion at Northridge Village, Northridge Village is, a senior living facility located
oil 12.35 acres at 3300 George Washington Carver 1"' VC1-lUc and 3305 Stange Road. The site was
rezoned to I'S-RM (Suburban Residential Medium Density) along %&,-ith Master plan approval in
2013. There is access to the site from both George Washington Carver and Stange with a
connecting driveway between the two streets providingaccess, to both facilities.
City Planner E,lolw SaIllstrom reviewed the site plan, project description, applicable law and
F'indings off, "act and C 'onclusions, The request is to construct as garden and garden pavilion oil
approximately 0.5 acres OfVaUlrlt 61rOUnd within the existing Northridge Village campus. The
first phase building on the west side of the site includes a continUL1111 ofcare facility comprised of
�9 independent senior living apartments, 34 assisted living units, and 34 skilled IlUrsing beds. A
Special 1Jse Permit f`or the first building, its site plan, and uses was approved on February 12,
2014, and subsequently arnendcd on February 11, 2015. The second building is on the east side
cal" the site and houses 39 independent senior living units. A Special Use Pernilt Im this, second

Applicant Karen Laybourne, 11827 W', 112"' Street Suite 103, Overland Park, KS, testified that
the residents are very excited about the garden, The main goal is to grow pn)duce for
CNISLIMPtiM f0i- the 1'esidents. Fhe residcnts probably won't be working, in the garden, but they
will hopefully use the pavilion, Another goal is for ISU to take the garden and run mth it
however they \w ant to use it,
DECISION
'I tic Board considered the facts as detailed above and provided in the stalTreport, and found that
all of the relevant standards in Section 29,1503 were n'iet and established by the Applicant.
