HomeMy WebLinkAboutA9 RECEIVED MAR 12 2018 P and Z Commission City of Ames CITY OF AMES, IOWA March 12, 2018 QEPT.OF PLANNING&HOUSING RE: Habitat for Humanity Relocation to North Grand Dear Commissioners and City Administration: I live at 3112 Northwood Drive, Ames and own the property behind the proposed Habitat for Humanity ...Heartland Baptist Church property on North Grand. I have no objection to Habitat purchasing and moving to this property. However, I would like to note that there is an easement on the South side of this property for access to the farmland below and it is used as an access point by me and the city. The hillside access is maintained by the city and by me and we have had a mutual cooperative effort. This access provides easement to the city for the city owned power lines, open drainage ditch, and sanitary sewer line. Fox engineering approached me a year or so ago when another entity investigated purchasing the Heartland Baptist Church property. Scott at their office had difficulty locating this easement and access and was confused on how it may be recorded in city documents. I helped him as best I could as there is access from North Grand to this back property for my purposes and the city's access to its utilities. I would just like to make sure Habitat is aware of this and any future plans do not obstruct this access. Also to ask the city to review this as well to insure it is recorded so as to access city utilities. It may be a good time to review this and record it. It has been used and maintained since at least the 1970's. I have owned my property since the 1980s. Sincerely, Leo and Jane Milleman 3112 Northwood Dr Ames, Iowa 50010 HP. 232 2210 Cell. 515 231 0328. 1 may not be able to attend the open meeting on March 14. 2018
