Dear Ms.Knipfel:
Thank you for submitting the application for a Variance to allow an open porch with columns
to extend into the front yard by more than the allowed eight feet, on the property located at 2007
Greeley Street. The City of Ames Planning and Housing Department is pleased to assist where
we can on this project. We find that the application and materials you submitted on September
6,2017 are substantially complete to begin processing.
I have been assigned as the staff planner on your request for a variance, and will review it for
any needed clarifications or additional materials. I will contact you if there is any additional
information needed for the application, prior to consideration of your request by the Zoning
Board of Adjustment (ZBA). Your request for a variance has been tentatively placed on the
agenda for the September 27, 2017 ZBA meeting. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 515
Clark Avenue, in the City Council Chambers, beginning at 6:00 PM. A report, analyzing your
request for a variance, will be prepared for the ZBA, as they consider your request. A copy of
the report will be provided to you on Friday, September 22, prior to the ZBA meeting on
September 27, 2017.
