HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Contract and Bond for Construction of 2020/21 Shared Use Path System Expansion - Vet Med Trail (S. 16th Street to South Grand Avenue) RESOLUTION NO. 22- 446 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2020/21 SHARED USE PATH SYSTEM EXPANSION-VET MED TRAIL (S. 16TH STREET TO SOUTH GRAND AVENUE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council and the Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT)have heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2020/21 Shared Use Path System Expansion-Vet Med Trail(S. 16th Street to South Grand Avenue);and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 2 Pt day of June,2022,as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the IDOT and filed with the City Clerk on the 23rd day of May, 2022; and, WHEREAS, this Council and the IDOT have heretofore determined that the bid of Jasper Construction Services, Inc., of Newton, Iowa, in the amount of$333,928.60 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS,the Contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The Contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Jasper Construction Services,Inc., of Newton, Iowa, in the amount of$333,928.60 dated the 28th day of June, 2022, for the 2020/21 Shared Use Path System Expansion - Vet Med Trail (S. 16th Street to South Grand Avenue)as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with(name of bonding company)of(city, state),as surety thereon,in the amount of$***filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 91h day of August, 2022. Renee all, City Clerk John A.
