RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE OF 51 METERED PARKING SPACES AND
WAIVER OF PARKING METER FEES AND ENFORCEMENT FOR THE AMES
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE'S "BACK TO SCHOOL BASH" IN CAMPUSTOWN
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS,the Ames Chamber of Commerce plans to hold its first annual"Back to School
Bash" on September 29, 2022; and,
WHEREAS, the event involves activities for families and students, with live music and a
beer garden; and,
WHEREAS, organizers are requesting the closure of parking spaces in the 200 block of
Welch Avenue, on Chamberlain Street between Welch Avenue and the Chamberlain Lot Y exit,
Welch Lot t, and Chamberlain Lot Y between noon and 11:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, organizers are requesting a closure of 51 metered parking spaces in the 200
block of Welch Avenue, on Chamberlain Street between Welch Avenue and the Chamberlain Lot
Y exit,Welch Lot T,and Chamberlain Lot Y between noon and 11:00 p.m.,and a waiver of parking
meter fees and enforcement, which would be a$82.50 loss to the Parking Fund; and,
WHEREAS, organizers will obtain a noise permit through the Police Department, and the
Ames Chamber of Commerce will contact affected businesses by going door-to-door, distributing
flyers, and through e-mail contacts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the closure of parking spaces in the aforementioned areas and the waiver of parking meter fees
and enforcement for the Ames Chamber of Commerce's"Back to School Bash,"on September 29,
2022, are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 9`' day of August, 2022.
