This location will provide for us to add the needed additional capacity to multiple areas of concern. These areas include but are not limited to the commercial district north of SE 16th Street along Duff Ave,the residential area along SE 161h Street east of the ISU Veterinary Medical buildings, the Ames Municipal Airport, and the residential area around and including the Kate Mitchell Elementary School. For this tower location to work Verizon Wireless is requesting a full antenna array due to multiple factors. The first is the number of antennas needed to transmit the spectrum that we have acquired from the FCC for our services. We currently have spectrum in the following bands, 700, 850, PCS,AWS and AWS-3. Unfortunately we cannot transmit all of these from the same antennas, thus making it necessary for four antennas per sector. The multiple spectrum bands require different antennas for each due to different frequencies. Our design uses the fewest number of antennas possible taking into account the restrictions discussed here. Another reason for the request for a full antenna array is so that we can adjust the antennas to face the areas of concerns stated above. Flush mount antennas would not be able to achieve the required azimuth to serve our customers and your residents. Sincerely, Justin Ruch RF System Design Verizon Wireless
